When will I see SEO results?

SEO results arrive on search engines’ schedule, not yours: expect the first ranking movement weeks after publishing optimized content, with the compounding gains building over months. This page explains what happens between clicking Approve and seeing results, and how to tell whether it’s working.

What happens after you approve

Approving an optimization publishes the new copy to your live store. From there, three things have to happen before rankings can move, and none of them are instant:

  1. Google recrawls the page. For most store pages this takes days to a couple of weeks, depending on how often Google visits your site.
  2. Google reindexes the new content. The updated titles, descriptions, and copy replace the old version in the search index.
  3. Rankings adjust. Google re-evaluates where the page belongs for each search, which can take further weeks as it gathers data on how searchers respond.

This is why an optimization approved yesterday shows no change today. Nothing is wrong — the page simply hasn’t been recrawled yet.

I optimized 40 products and nothing moved. Did it fail?

Not necessarily — check the timeline first. If it’s been less than a month, you’re likely still inside the recrawl-and-reindex window.

If it’s been longer, look at which searches you’re checking. Optimized product pages typically move first on specific, lower-competition searches (“waterproof hiking socks wool blend”) rather than broad head terms (“socks”). Broad terms are dominated by large sites and move slowly for everyone. Gains on specific searches are the early signal that the optimization is working.

Also check that the optimizations were actually approved and published. Content sitting in your Awaiting Review queue isn’t live and can’t affect anything.

How to tell if it’s working

Watch these signals, roughly in the order they appear:

Judge results over months, not days, and compare against your own baseline — not against a competitor’s mature site.

Why did a page’s authority score go down after optimization?

It almost certainly wasn’t the optimization. Page Authority and Domain Authority are calculated from your link profile, not your page copy, so rewriting content doesn’t lower them. Small score drops usually reflect changes in Moz’s link index or its scoring model — the kind of drift that happens whether or not you touched the page. See What is Domain Authority?.

Is it worth optimizing the rest of my catalog?

Each optimized page is a chance to rank for its own set of specific searches, and specific searches are where independent stores win. A catalog where every product page targets its searches well beats a catalog where only the top sellers do — the long tail of small wins adds up to more traffic than any single page delivers.

FAQ

How long until I see results from SEO changes? First movement typically shows within a few weeks of publishing; meaningful gains build over two to three months and beyond. SEO is compounding — the same optimized page keeps working for you month after month.

If I cancel, will my rankings drop? The optimized content you approved stays on your store — CataSEO doesn’t remove it, so the rankings it earned don’t disappear with your subscription. What stops is forward progress: new products go unoptimized and existing copy isn’t refreshed.

Should I spend this money on ads instead? They solve different problems. Ads buy immediate traffic that stops the moment you stop paying. SEO builds traffic slowly, but an optimized page keeps earning visits without a per-click cost. Most stores that can afford both run both.

Is SEO working if my traffic hasn’t changed yet? Look at impressions and keyword counts in Google Search Console before traffic — they move first. Rising impressions with flat traffic means you’re being shown but not yet ranked high enough to earn the click; that’s mid-journey, not failure.
