Assess and rewrite an existing blog post

CataSEO can review a blog post you already have and tell you what’s wrong with it for search, then rewrite it for you. Assessing a post is free. Rewriting one costs 1 express token.

Assess post works on anything with a title or a body, including a draft that hasn’t been saved yet. Rewrite with AI works on posts that are already on your store — including ones written long before you installed CataSEO.

Assess a post

Open the post and click Assess post. The Post SEO Assessment dialog reads the post and lists what it found, each finding as one plain sentence.

Some findings come with a concrete replacement value, shown as Suggested: followed by the new text. Those cover three fields — the title, the meta description and the meta keywords. Click Apply to take the suggestion.

Everything else is advice about the body of the post rather than a value to swap in.

Assessment is free. The dialog says so: “Free — this doesn’t use your token balance.” There’s no limit on how often you run it.

Rewrite a post with AI

Rewrite with AI is offered inside the assessment, once it has finished: assess the post, read the findings, then click Rewrite with AI in the dialog. It appears for posts that are already on your store, on platforms where CataSEO can write posts.

CataSEO rewrites the body for SEO, fixing what the assessment found, and applies the assessment’s title and meta suggestions at the same time.

You can add your own instructions on top — “shorter paragraphs”, “a friendlier tone”, “a section on sizing”. SEO optimisation is built in, so you don’t need to ask for it.

The rewritten post lands in the editor as a draft for you to review. Nothing is saved to your store until you save it yourself.

What a rewrite costs

One express token, confirmed before it runs: “This rewrite uses 1 express token. The rewritten post lands in the editor as a draft for you to review, save or discard. If your layout can’t be kept, the body is left as it was and the token is refunded.”

Tick Don’t warn me again to skip that prompt next time.

Nothing is charged when a rewrite doesn’t run at all — if it fails, if the model is busy, if it’s blocked by a safety filter, or if you’re out of express tokens, CataSEO says so and your balance is untouched.

Your layout is protected

A blog post often contains things that matter and that a rewrite could quietly lose: images, links, embedded videos, headings, scripts and shortcodes. CataSEO checks the rewritten body against the original before showing it to you.

If anything is missing, the rewrite is lossy: your body is kept exactly as it was, the title and meta changes are still applied, and the token is refunded. The message says which kind of thing would have been lost and how many.

The same thing happens if the rewrite introduces a claim your post doesn’t support — the body is kept as it was and only the title and meta changes land.

If there was nothing the rewrite could safely change, CataSEO tells you that and leaves your post alone.

What the result looks like

After a rewrite you get one of these messages:

FAQ

Does assessing a post cost anything? No. Assessment is free and doesn’t use your token balance. The dialog says so before you run it.

How much does a rewrite cost? One express token. If the rewrite can’t keep your layout, the body is left as it was and the token is refunded. If the rewrite doesn’t run at all — a failure, a busy model, a safety block, or no tokens — nothing is charged.

Will a rewrite overwrite my post on my store? No. The rewrite lands in the editor as a draft. It reaches your store only when you save it. See Blog posts.

Can CataSEO rewrite a post it didn’t write? Yes. That’s what it’s for — a rewrite works on a post that’s already on your store, including posts that pre-date CataSEO.

Why isn’t Rewrite with AI offered on my draft? Rewrite works on posts that are already saved to your store. For a draft the AI wizard generated and hasn’t saved yet, use Regenerate instead — it’s free. See Write a blog post with AI.

Why did my body stay the same after a rewrite? Because the rewritten version would have lost something your post depends on — an image, a link, an embed, a heading, a script or a shortcode — or because it made a claim your post doesn’t support. CataSEO keeps your body rather than publishing a version that lost part of it. Title and meta description changes still apply.

Why are only the title, meta description and meta keywords suggested as replacements? Those are the three fields where an assessment can propose an exact new value. Everything else it finds is advice about the body, which is what Rewrite with AI is for.

I don’t have meta keywords on my post. Is that a problem? CataSEO writes meta keywords on BigCommerce and WooCommerce, and doesn’t write them on Shopify or Wix — Shopify has no such field, and on Wix it isn’t something CataSEO sets. So on those two there’s nothing to set and nothing to fix. See Blog posts for what CataSEO does on each platform.
