Write a blog post with AI

New post with AI is a five-step wizard on the Blog tab that writes a complete, SEO-targeted blog post about products you choose. Generating a post costs 1 express token, and the draft is yours to edit before anything reaches your store.

Before you start

The wizard writes about your own catalog, so your products need to be imported into CataSEO. Products CataSEO has already optimized make better posts, because the confirmed facts and buyer questions from that optimization are used as source material. Those products are marked Optimized in the picker, and there is an Optimized only filter.

Step 1 — choose what the post is about

Two ways in, both from the Blog tab:

After step 1 the two paths are identical.

Every internal link in the finished post is a product you picked here, and every post needs one to three of them. If you select a category but none of its products, CataSEO asks you to choose at least one product from it — the category on its own helps the writer understand your catalog but can’t be linked to.

Step 2 — pick an angle

CataSEO proposes four angles on what you selected. Pick one, and steer it further with your own instructions if you want.

If none of them fit, Suggest different ideas generates another four, or Use my own instructions lets you write the brief yourself.

Generating ideas is free. It doesn’t use your token balance, and you can ask for different ideas as often as you like.

On BigCommerce, the post also carries structured data telling search engines which products it discusses. That doesn’t guarantee a rich search result.

Step 4 — pictures

Choose the pictures the post may use. You can:

Leave everything unselected and the writer chooses one photo of each product. Where each picture goes in the post, and its alt text, is decided as the post is written. A draft with no pictures is fine — you can add them in the editor later.

Step 5 — the draft

CataSEO shows you the finished post: title, body, excerpt, SEO fields and the pictures in place. It also shows:

Nothing has been saved to your store at this point. From here you can edit any field, Regenerate, Save as draft, or Publish post.

One exception, and it matters if you got here from the content calendar. If you started this post by clicking Write now on a planned idea, the post carries that idea’s date. Closing the wizard without saving doesn’t abandon it — CataSEO publishes it to your blog on that date. Publish or save it yourself before then if you’d rather decide at the time, or delete the draft from the Blog tab. A post you started any other way has no date and is never published for you.

Regenerate is free. It uses the same selection and produces a new draft, and it replaces any edits you made in the wizard.

What it costs

Generating a post uses 1 express token. Before the first one, CataSEO asks Generate this post? and says: “Generating this post uses 1 express token. It is charged only if the post is written — a failed run costs nothing, and regenerating the finished post is free.” Tick Don’t warn me again to skip the prompt next time.

So, precisely:

If you’re out of express tokens, CataSEO says so and nothing is generated. See Plans and tokens.

One post at a time

CataSEO generates one post per store at a time. If you start a second while one is still being written, you’re told to wait for the first to finish. Clicking Generate twice on the same post doesn’t start two runs or charge twice.

Leaving and coming back

If you close the wizard part-way through, your work is kept. Next time you click New post with AI, CataSEO asks Finish your post in progress? and offers Continue or Start over.

A generated draft that you never saved stays on the Blog tab, marked In progress, and you can continue or delete it there. Deleting it can’t be undone, and the express token it used isn’t refunded — CataSEO warns you of that before deleting.

If generation fails

The wizard tells you what happened and whether anything was charged. In every failure case, nothing is charged:

The last one is the claim gate. CataSEO won’t publish a sentence asserting a certification, rating or compliance status that your product data doesn’t support. Usually it just removes those sentences and tells you it did, under Written from.

FAQ

How much does a blog post cost? One express token per post that is successfully written. A failed run costs nothing, and regenerating a finished post is free. Ideas and SEO checks are free.

Does the post go live on my store when the wizard finishes? Usually no. Step 5 is a draft that exists only in CataSEO — it says so on the screen — and it reaches your store when you press Save as draft or Publish post. The exception is a post you started with Write now from a planned idea on the content calendar: that post carries the idea’s date, and CataSEO publishes it to your blog on the day whether or not you came back to it. See Blog ideas and the content calendar.

I started a post from my content calendar and closed the wizard. What happens to it? It publishes to your blog on the date you planned. If you’d rather decide at the time, publish or save it yourself first, or delete the draft from the Blog tab — deleting doesn’t refund the express token it used.

Can I edit the post after it’s generated? Yes. Every field is editable in the wizard before you save, and the post stays editable from the Blog tab afterwards. See Blog posts.

Why does it say another post is still being generated? CataSEO writes one post at a time per store. Wait for the one in flight to finish, then generate again.

I closed the tab while it was generating. Did I lose the post? No. The post carries on being written on CataSEO’s servers. It appears on the Blog tab when it’s done.

Why were some sentences removed from my post? CataSEO removes sentences that assert a certification, safety rating or compliance status your product data doesn’t back up. It tells you when it has done this, under Written from in step 5. If the claim is true, add it to that product’s data and generate again.

Can CataSEO write a post that isn’t about a product? Yes — use Start from a topic. The post is written from general knowledge about your store’s field instead of from one product’s data.

Do I need an active subscription to generate blog posts? You need express tokens. See Plans and tokens for how express tokens are bought and included.
