Generate image alt text

CataSEO can write descriptive alt text for your product images using an AI vision model. Alt text helps with accessibility (screen readers) and image search.

How it works

When CataSEO optimizes a product, it looks at each product image and generates a short, descriptive alt text in the language and voice from your SEO profile. The alt text suggestions appear in the product approval view, alongside the rest of the optimized fields.

Per-image, not per-product

Each image gets its own suggested alt text. You can edit any of them individually in the approval view before approving the product.

Where to find and approve

Alt text is generated as part of regular product optimization (express or batch). When you open a product in the Awaiting Review queue, you’ll see each image with its current and suggested alt text. Edit or approve as usual.

Language and voice

Alt text follows the language and tone of voice from your SEO profile. If you change the profile and re-optimize, new alt text uses the updated settings.

FAQ

Will alt text be regenerated if I change the SEO profile? Only when you re-optimize the product. Existing approved alt text isn’t refreshed automatically.

What if my product images have text in them already? The AI describes what it sees, including text that appears in the image. Review the suggestion — sometimes a shorter, less literal alt text is better.

Are alt text generations billed separately? No. Alt text is generated as part of regular product optimization and uses the same token as that optimization.

Can I keep my existing alt text? Yes. Just don’t approve the image-level changes — edit the alt text field back to whatever you had before, or leave the original by deselecting the suggestion in the approval view.
