Connect a WooCommerce store
CataSEO connects to WooCommerce through a WordPress plugin that pairs with your CataSEO account.
Before you start
You’ll need:
- A WordPress site with WooCommerce installed and activated.
- An administrator account on that WordPress site (you’ll be authorizing API access).
- The ability to install plugins on your WordPress site.
Install the CataSEO connector plugin
- Install the CataSEO connector plugin on your WordPress site (from the WordPress plugin directory or by uploading the plugin zip from your CataSEO dashboard).
- Activate the plugin.
Authorize the connection
When prompted, you’ll be sent through WooCommerce’s built-in REST API authorization flow:
- Click the Authorize button shown by the plugin.
- Review the permissions and approve.
CataSEO requests read and write access to your products through the WooCommerce REST API. That’s the minimum needed to fetch existing product copy and write optimized copy back after you approve it. CataSEO does not access customers, orders, or payments.
First sync
After authorization, CataSEO imports your WooCommerce product catalog. You can start setting up your SEO profile while the sync runs.
Troubleshooting
- “Pairing key invalid or expired” — pairing keys expire after a short window. Restart the install from your CataSEO dashboard to generate a fresh key.
- “Connection times out” — your WordPress site must be reachable from the public internet. Sites behind authentication walls, IP allowlists, or staging password protection won’t work.
- “WooCommerce not detected” — make sure WooCommerce is installed and activated, not just present in plugins.
FAQ
Does the plugin work on WordPress multisite? Yes, but you’ll need to connect each subsite separately.
What WooCommerce version is required? A recent WooCommerce version with REST API v3 support. Almost all currently maintained installs qualify.
How do I update the plugin? Like any WordPress plugin — through your WordPress plugin admin. CataSEO will tell you when a new version is available.
Will CataSEO publish changes to my WooCommerce storefront automatically? No. Every optimization waits in your review queue until you approve it.
